"The
great gift of therapy is that a person finds she can be more herself, more connected
.more
the person she would want to be and not felt able to be." Jean
Baker Miller, M.D.
In twelve years of psychotherapy practice, I have
believed this to be true for both men and women and have watched my clients respond
in just this way.
Individual clients bring their stories to therapy and
often express feelings of sadness, loss, shame, anxiety and frustration. Lingering
family dysfunction, misunderstanding, even abandonment may be fragmenting, still,
their relationships.
Therapy begins with your concerns. I will listen to
and come to understand your experience, and affirm and support your resilience.
Together we will gather and consider strategies for helping you to cope, gain
understanding, ease your discomfort and explore resolution.
Some couple
relationships go through a period of forgetfulness, that is, forgetting that they
know how to care for each other. In your couple relationships you may be experiencing
disappointing changes in your communication, and feeling lonely, scared and disconnected.
In
your couple therapy you can share safely, as you are ready, the hurts and issues
which separate and isolate you. As new, energized communication, feelings of trust
and healthy actions emerge, you as a couple can build a stronger foundation to
support the kind of relationship you both want and have been hoping was possible. For
day and evening appointments, please call 781-834-7900, Ext 1. Questions are welcome.
